Vanessa Donovan returns home to deal with all her mother left behind after an untimely death. Determined to get through the details and return to her normal life, Vanessa tries to keep her emotions tucked away and her heart hardened. But the curious attention of her hometown’s new pastor arrives with what appears to be genuine empathy and a helping hand. But with unhealed grief of his own, Rory Sanderson doesn’t quite know what to do with the feelings he has for this beautiful new neighbor of his.

I appreciated the inner journeys of both the hero and the heroine in this story. The author did a good job of peeling away layers as the story went along, putting real motivations on the page. She handled the sensitive subject of a person who has been hurt by the church very well. I highly recommend this book for anybody wanting to get lost in a sweet romance.
